Sunday 29th November: Peak to Fong!

(Apologies for the late posting: not my fault, honest!)

Like many of the volunteers I was up at the crack of dawn so I could be at the Peak by 9.30am latest.  That meant walking the dogs through the woods in the dark, an interesting experience, but nothing to match the efforts of the team who were already at the warehouse by then.  They had to get all the stuff for the stalls into trucks and delivered to Lan Kwai Fong by 7am, where they were met by another team who helped unpack and put everything together.  I can’t praise these amazing volunteers enough for an incredible achievement, as well as all the volunteers and their work throughout the day.

We haven’t completely finalised all the counting but the tally by our hard working “money team” at the end of the day totalled around $650,000 (including pre-event ticket  and raffle sales)!!  We still have some other surprises up our sleeves before year end, so it’s not over yet ……..

The event itself was a huge success, and photos are already up on our HKDR Facebook Fan page (link is just on the right of this page), as well as the lucky raffle prize winners.  The winning numbers are also already up on the website, as well as the top Sponsored Dog Walk winners and the incredible amounts that were raised.  The total from this alone was a staggering $248,000!!!!  Amazing, and thank you to everyone who took part in this and collected s0 much from your sponsors.

There’s really so many people to thank, from our MCs Bernie Lo and Jami Gong who made a great double act on stage,

to the Dixie Katz for the live music,  our HKDR Ambassador, Rosemary (pictured here with Teddy, who came over from Lamma with me and made so many friends but is still waiting for a home), our incredibly generous sponsors who donated the fantastic raffle prizes (please have a look at the full list), to the Lan Kwai Fong Assocation for their support and help, and again our amazing volunteers led by Linda.  Thanks to everyone who helped put the event together, and most of all to everyone who bought tickets and turned up!  I think everyone had a great time, including the kids who were kept entertained at Kidz Corner and all the activities there.

This time next year who knows what will have happened or where we’ll be, but for now I’m happy. Thank you all!

A brilliant success and a meaningful event! Having huge fun with so many animal lovers and all homed angels. An remarkable sunday crammed full with happiness esp my two little monster was recognized by several volunteers in the middle of the tour, which really sparkles the meaning behind the event.

An amazing result and so much hard work went into it all. My boy met so many other dogs on the day and spent the entire walk with a raised, curled, happy tail! He wasn’t so keen on the crowds at LKF so we didn’t stay too long, but all in all a really wonderful day out for all of us.

    Can’t wait for next year!
