Sunday 10th May 2009, Puppies Galore!

Sundays are routine these days as it’s puppy afternoon at Whiskers’n’Paws.  Trying to decide which pups to take is difficult as there are so many.  Billy, Minky and Diva are getting big now so they have to go.  Minky gets really seasick so tends to spend the afternoon recovering, while Billy and Diva get stuck right into serious playing as soon as we arrive.  I also take the puppies that are either fully vaccinated or have at least 2 vaccinations.  Young puppies are so fragile and it’s easy for them to pick up diseases.

The sampan comes at 1.30pm for the short trip across the Lamma Channel to Ap Lei Chau, and the crowd at Whiskers’n’Paws is there as usual but no adoptions today.  The puppies are uncomplaining as they are picked up and hugged, dragged and often dropped by their young admirers, and it’s a very tiring few hours for them. 5pm and time to go home.  One puppy is returned from his foster home after recovering from an eye operation so there’s even one more rather than less.

Milky ... so sweet!

Milky ... so sweet!

The most  amazing looking young dog turned up at Whiskers’n’Paws.  It turned out to be an ex-HKDR pup called Yoghurt, now Whisky, who was one of a litter of gorgeous fluffy babies.  Now about 7 months old, his fluffy coat has turned into feathers and his is just beautiful. His brother is a regular at Whiskers’n’Paws, and the two youngsters seemed to recognize each other and immediately started playing non-stop.  Now I must track down the third puppy, Creamy, to see how he turned out. A reunion must be arranged.
